Federico Herrero

"Born in San José (Costa Rica), Herrero's canvas work and urban interventions are organically coherent, engendering a fantasy of the site/non-site device (Robert Smithson) from a different point of view. The dilemma is familiar: how to reimagine the studio in the contemporary jungle, in dialogue with the brutalism of concrete buildings, pollution, and traffic? What message can a painter communicate to a metropolis without becoming diluted in the bowels of its unsustainable chaos?" (Lisette Lagnado, 2017).
